Views of the new Korean comedy film "Wild Sing" exceeded one million viewers on the eighteenth day of its release.
According to the Korean Film Council, "Wild Sing" had more than 1 million viewers as of June 20. Since its release on June 3, the film has remained among the highest-grossing films at the box office.
Wild Sing tells the story of TRIANGLE, a trio that once took the music industry by storm but broke up due to an unexpected accident, and is now trying to make a comeback after more than 20 years.
The Korean film stars Kang Dong Won, Park Ji Hyun, Uhm Tae Goo, Oh Jung Se, and others.
The great hype surrounding the film even before its release contributed to its continued public success. TRIANGLE's music video for "Love Is" has surpassed 4.14 million cumulative views on Lotte Entertainment's YouTube channel as of June 19. The songs featured in the film also achieved notable success by entering the Melon HOT100 list.
In particular, the song "I Like You" by Choi Sung Geun (played by Oh Jung Se) quickly spread across social media, further boosting the film's popularity.
Several actors and singers joined the challenge, including Ryu Seung-ryung, Lee Seung-min, Kim Seon-ho, Park Bo-gum, Twice's Naeun, ESPA's Winter, IVI's Jang Won-young, and Boy Next Door's Taesan.
After reaching the million-view mark, it remains to be seen whether the film will gain further momentum and maintain its box office success in the long run.
