The production team of JTBC's upcoming weekend drama Doctor Slump has revealed stills of Nam Ha Neul's character, played by Park Shin Hye, a hardworking anesthesiologist.
In the footage, Nam Ha-neul is seen in her fellowship at the university hospital. Living a hectic and competitive life in the hospital, tirelessly caring for patients while neglecting her own well-being, Nam Ha-neul's lifeless face reflects the effect of her repetitive routine.
In the following shots, Nam Ha Neul is walking around the streets in surgical clothing. Her eyes were filled with tears that were about to overflow, which increased the viewers' curiosity.
In addition, attention is drawn to her complex and tense expression captured in a strange setting, not a hospital.
Park Shin Hye commented, "I believe that everyone can experience a slump at least once in their life. I had this experience as well. As a result, I was touched by the emotions that Haneul's character feels," and, "Personally, “I wanted to offer the audience a work that could provide healing through the everyday and ordinary story.”
Regarding her focus on portraying emotional changes, she said: “I had the opportunity to speak with a psychiatrist for acting, and he mentioned that even if someone is diagnosed with depression, he does not feel lethargic all day long. He said that while he experiences different emotions "One loses for a moment how to overcome any difficulties one encounters." “I kept this in mind and acted. I wanted to depict the healing process of Haneul, who was lethargic and anxious, thanks to her family and Jeongwoo [Park Hyung Sik].”
Doctor Slump will premiere on January 27. The Korean drama will be available to stream on Netflix.
