On December 14, Gyeongseong Creature revealed character posters depicting characters who enjoy fleeting moments of joy amid difficult times, and those filled with greed and hiding big secrets.
The posters show the characters living in the turbulent time of 1945.
Hang Tae-sang (Park Seo-joon), the number one source of information and owner of the best pawnshop, Geum Okdang, in Gyeongseong, exudes a controlling aura with a lively expression, giving the image of a smart businessman.
Yoon Chae Ok (Han So Hee), a woman rumored to have excellent skills in finding missing people, displays a strong presence while wearing a cheerful smile.
Against the backdrop of the ancient scene of Geum Okdang, Na Wool Baek (Kim Hye Suk) and Jo Gap Byung (Park Ji Hwan) wear bright smiles, indicating the close bond they share with Jang Tae Sang, while Yoon Jung Won ( Jo Han-chul), Chae Ok's father, wears a serious expression that indicates his unwavering determination to find his missing wife.
The juxtaposition of the characters' smiles with the torn, bloodstained portions of the posters foretells the brutal struggles for survival stained by greed in the spring of 1945.
In contrast to the warm atmosphere of the previous posters, the poster featuring Yukiko Maeda (Kim Soo-hyun), Lieutenant General Gato (Choi Young-joon), and Ichiro (Hyun Bong-sik) gives off an eerie atmosphere. The trio stands in Ongseong Hospital, smiling evilly, sparking curiosity about the devastating secret they're hiding.
Director Jung Dong-yeon expressed his intention to show the characters' warmth and little joys even amid difficult times. Furthermore, he sought to emphasize that more terrifying things lay behind this magic.
Writer Kang Eun-kyung presented the drama as "a story about young people struggling to survive."
