Marking the 10th anniversary of the series Goblin (Guardian: The Lonely and Great God), tvN Entertainment has revealed its first teaser featuring Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Lee Dong Wook, and Yoo In Na.
Premiering on July 4, “The Goblin 10th Anniversary Journey” is a special program designed to celebrate the 10th anniversary of “Goblin.” The series' main stars - including Gong Yoo, Lee Dong Wook, Kim Go Eun, and Yoo In Na - will travel to Gangneung on a nostalgic trip, where they will recall the special meaning left by the series, and share stories from behind the scenes of filming.
The first teaser shows the reunion of the four stars, who have reunited for the first time in ten years. Against the backdrop of Gangneung Beach - which served as the backdrop for many iconic scenes in the series - the crew celebrates the tenth anniversary of the series. Gong Yoo says, "Let's have fun and have a good time today," while Kim Go Eun expresses excitement, saying, "I'm really coming back after ten years."
Meanwhile, Lee Dong Wook wonders, "Has it really been ten years since Goblin?" Yoo In Na expresses her feelings, saying, "It's amazing how everything still looks exactly the same."
The trailer also shows the series' protagonists visiting the Jumunjin breakwater in Gangneung City. This location acquires special symbolism as it is the place where Ji Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun) summoned the demon Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) for the first time in the series. Having served as the backdrop for one of the series' most memorable scenes, it has become a popular destination for fans who want to take special souvenir photos.
The teaser heightened the intensity of nostalgia through the series' distinctive soundtrack, in addition to the red scarf and buckwheat flowers that appeared in the series.
"The Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" premiered in 2016, and tells the story of an immortal goblin who needs a human bride to end his eternal life, and an amnesiac soul reaper who begins living with him. Drama escalates when a girl - who was destined to die - appears before them, claiming to be the "Goblin's Bride." The series was a huge success, and contributed to strengthening the Hallyu wave.
The “Goblin” 10th Anniversary Journey production team stated: “Even after ten years, the “Goblin” series is still etched in the memories of many as one of the favorite series of all time. Viewers will once again be able to relive their memories and nostalgia for the past.”
The film will fully capture the emotions, fun and even chemistry between the actors from those days, so we hope a lot of people will look forward to it.
