Kim Go Eun's upcoming movie "Hero" has shared a first look at her new character!
"Hero" is the first Korean film ever to be adapted from a musical. The historical film revolves around the last year in the life of Korean independence activist Ahn Jung-geon who became a martyr after being sentenced to death by a Japanese court for the assassination of Ito Hirobumi in October 1909 in Harbin. Using the major musical "Hero" as its basis, the film honors the 100th anniversary of Ahn Jung Geun's noble deeds as a martyr.
Kim Go Eun stars in “Hero” as Seol Hee, the last lady of the Joseon court, who witnesses the death of the last empress, Empress Myeongsong. As an informant for the Independence Army, Seol-hee is a powerful figure who collects essential information about Japan to actively support the independence movement. To avenge the nation, Seol-hee hides her identity to get closer to Ito Hirobumi and secretly carry out her secret mission.
Not only did Kim Go Eun master Seul Hee's complex inner feelings with her detailed acting, but she also performed her music scenes seamlessly and impressed with her excellent delivery of her Japanese lines.
Through this role, fans will be able to see a completely new image of Kim Go Eun.
Director Yoon Jae-kyun praised Kim Go Eun, saying, "To the point where she didn't need to direct, she showcased amazing acting and singing at every moment."
While Kim Go Eun was confirmed to star in Hero in June 2019 and filming was completed later that year, the film's initial release in July 2020 was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "Hero" is now scheduled to premiere in December.
