Actor Woo Do Hwan noted that he enjoys exercising, rather than drinking alcohol, as a way to relieve stress.
Woo Do Hwan recently conducted an interview with local reporters at a café in Seogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, for his recently released Netflix drama Mr. Plankton.
Mr. Plankton tells the story of Hae Joo (Woo Do Hwan), a man suffering from bad luck, who is forced to embark on the last journey of his life alongside Jo Jae Mi (Lee Yeo Mi), an even more unlucky woman.
In the series, Woo Do Hwan plays Hae Joo, a man who was born by mistake and had to live a lonely wandering life without a family.
Woo Do Hwan said, "Hae Joo is a completely different man from me. I live every day under discipline and rules, and it has been that way for a long time. I actually enjoy this lifestyle, and I have a drive, not an obsession, to exercise and self-care. But to transform into Hae Joo, I decided to stop doing the things I usually do every day, like exercising."
“Since Hae Joo's life is so opposite to my own, I felt like I needed to make changes to understand him. For example, I don't drink, but while working on Mr. Plankton, I used to drink... I avoid drinking mainly to take care of myself, for fear of losing muscle, or to prepare for the next day's work. Even when I'm stressed, I exercise instead of drinking. But when I didn't exercise [for this project], after filming, when I was completely exhausted, I found myself wanting to have a drink. But as soon as filming was over, the desire to drink disappeared "Right [when the actor started exercising again]."

Regarding the many scenes in which she appears shirtless, Woo Do Hwan said, "I feel like there is no drama where I don't take my shirt off. But this time, I didn't practice at all."
He added with a laugh, "If I don't exercise, I lose muscle mass. Hye Joo's not supposed to look fit, so if I look too healthy, maybe I didn't prepare well enough." "I weighed about 78kg when filming Bloodhounds, but I weighed about 71kg in Mr. Plankton. I'm sorry to say it that way, but if I don't exercise, I lose the desire to eat. I put a lot of effort into building muscle rather than gaining fat," he noted.
