Set in an era of chaos, Chief Detective 1958 tells the story of Detective Park Young Han (Lee Ji Hoon), who, unable to see human dignity trampled, joins forces with three of his colleagues to smash corrupt power.
Chief Detective (1958) is the prequel to Chief Inspector. Lee Ji Hoon played the hero of the story, Detective Park Young Han.
Chief Detective 1958 concluded with a success with a 10.6% rating nationally. Since Lee Ji Hoon not only plays the role of young Park Young Han, but also appears as his grandson Park Joon Seo, fans can't help but wonder if there will be a second season. When asked about the possibility of a second season, Lee Ji Hoon replied, "I have my expectations as well, but the decision is not my place to make. Our drama... feels complete as a premise and an independent story."
Having often played righteous characters, Lee Ji Hoon explains why he continues to choose such roles even though his on-screen characters are seen as predictable, saying, “I instinctively feel that the stories that people care about and want to see are about justice and revenge. People of the world desire poetic justice and revenge. Since society does not always provide this, they want to vent and relieve stress by watching such works. That's why I think people love and search for works like this, and I'm naturally drawn to them “For them too… At the same time, I often think that I need to show more diverse sides of myself and not limit myself to one type of [role].”
While talking about his busy schedule, Lee Ji Hoon joked, “I'm thankful that I have dramas lined up one after another, so there's no room for new projects in my schedule until next year. Recently, writer Kim Eun-hee announced that she has begun working on the script for the second season of tvN's hit thriller series Signal.
