On December 13, it was reported that BTS member Suga would be hired to work as a public service worker. Specific recruiting plans such as when to enlist have not been disclosed.
In response to the reports, a BIGHIT MUSIC representative shared, “The BTS members plan to serve in the military sequentially according to their own plans. "It is difficult to confirm the personal information of artists."
After reports surfaced, it was speculated that Suga was set to be a public service worker due to undergoing surgery in 2020. At the time, the agency released an official statement explaining why the decision to undergo surgery was made.
It was stated in the statement, “Suga also felt that it was important for him to return in good health to prepare for mandatory military service as well as his music career after service. After extensive discussion with the company, the decision was made to undergo surgery.”
