On April 27, Starship's King Kong actor Lee Kwang-soo's agency confirmed in an official press release that the star will be leaving SBS's show Running Man.

We have reported that Lee Kwang Soo will be leaving the cast of SBS “Running Man” after his final taping on May 24.
After being involved in his car accident last year, Lee Kwang Soo received regular physical therapy. Despite constant treatment, there were times when he felt it was difficult to maintain top physical condition while filming "Running Man." As a result, Lee Kwang Soo had lengthy conversations with the production staff, cast, and fellow cast members of the show, as well as the agency, and eventually came to the conclusion that he needed time to recover physically and mentally.
Since it is a program that Lee Kwang-soo has called “home” for the past 11 years, it was difficult for him to make this decision. However, it was inevitable when considering his intention to show a better image to viewers in the future.
We sincerely thank all the viewers for the love they showed to Lee Kwang Soo on 'Running Man,' and Lee Kwang Soo promised to greet all of you again with a bright and healthy image.”
Back in February of 2020, Lee Kwang Soo was involved in a car accident, where he suffered fractures in his right ankle.
