On April 9, media reported that the NU'EST leader will be a part of an upcoming romantic comedy musical drama written by Yoo Soo Won titled "I'll be your night".
His agency Pledis Entertainment revealed, “JR has been confirmed to be part of the cast of the upcoming drama. Please send your love and support because JR will face a new challenge with this drama.”
"I'll Be Your Night" will tell the story of a fake doctor who will live in the same estate as a major idol group called LUNA. You'll pretend to cure one of the band members' problems by sleepwalking. For this reason, she will move into her favorite K-Pop band's apartment. JR will play the role of Lee Shin, the band's guitarist.
JR debuted in 2012 through the five-member K-pop group NU'EST produced by Pledis Entertainment. His group experienced a reversal and rose to fame after appearing on the survival show Produce 101 Season 2. Since then, JR and his group have been active in the music and entertainment scene.
"I'll Be Your Night" will be JR's first acting work in Korea. His first ever acting role was in the 2016 Japanese film 'Their Distance' alongside fellow NU'EST members Ren and Hwang Min Hyun.
NU'EST will also return with their second full album on April 19.
Filming for the drama "I'll Be Your Night" will begin next May.The drama is scheduled to air in the second half of 2021.
