Shin Dong

Shin Dong Hee, known professionally as Shindong, is a South Korean singer, dancer, presenter, video director, and entertainer, and a member of the boy band Super Junior. He graduated from Sewon High School, and later earned a diploma (associate) in practical dance from Baekje University of the Arts, bachelor's and master's degrees in radio broadcast music from Chungwon University, as well as a doctorate in cultural management from Inha University. He joined SM Entertainment in 2005 after winning the Best Comedian award in the SM Best Youth Contest. Lee Soo Man aimed to form a multi-talented group with members with experience in various fields (such as acting, dancing, presenting, etc.). He based his idea on the Japanese girl group Morning Musume, which debuted in 1997 and adopted a successful system of changing and rotating its lineup over time. He named his new group “Super Junior 05”. Shindong debuted in November 2005 as the group's main dancer, singer, and rap performer (in secondary roles), with their debut single "Twins (Knock Out)" which was part of their debut album "Twins" released one month later. The idea of ​​a rotating lineup was abandoned when member Cho Kyu Hyun joined the group in 2006. However, Super Junior has become one of the most successful K-Pop groups, and its members' ability to excel in multiple areas of the entertainment industry has led to a change in the methods of preparing trainees in other companies. As part of SM's strategy to not restrict the group's activities while some members focus on their individual career paths, several sub-groups have been formed since their launch; Shindong debuted as a member of the trot-focused group Super Junior-T in February 2007 with their solo album "Rokkugo!!!". Then, in May 2008, he joined the group Super Junior-H and appeared with them on their solo album “Cooking? Cooking!”. Finally, he joined the group "SUPER JUNIOR-L.S.S." He made his debut with the group in July 2023 with the song “Close The Shutter”. He joined compulsory military service on March 24, 2015, and ended his service on December 23, 2016. After the end of the service, his focus increased on other areas, such as presenting programs (radio and television), participating in entertainment programs, and directing many of the band’s music videos.
