Higashide Masahiro

Masahiro Higashidi is a Japanese actor and model. He won the Best Newcomer Actor Award at the 36th Japan Academy Awards in 2013, and the Sponishi Grand Prix Newcomer Award ("The Kirishima Thing") at the 67th Mainichi Film Awards in 2012. Higashidi graduated from Asaka High School, Saitama Prefecture. He practiced kendo daily as a child, because his father is a kendo teacher and also a Japanese chef. He married Anne Watanabe on January 1, 2015, and they welcomed their twin daughters in May 2016, and their son in November 2017. Masahiro Higashidi became part of Japan's first major entertainment scandal in 2020, as his secret relationship with actress Erika Karata since 2017 was revealed. Shukan Bunshun revealed that Higashidi had been having an affair with the actress since 2017 when his wife was pregnant with their third child. His agency later confirmed the news. This incident caused Higashidi to lose several advertising contracts. As of July 31, 2020, he and Watanabe An have officially separated. Talent agency Humanite terminated its contract with Higashidi Masahiro on February 14, 2022. The agency stated that it had done its best to support him since January 2020, but his ill-considered actions last fall led them to make the difficult decision that they could no longer work together.
